Welcome to Tiny House!

A guide for your stay

Welcome to Tiny House!

Arrival and Parking

Check-in is anytime after 4:00 PM. We encourage guests to arrive before dark as this is a rural property, and the roads are not brightly lit.
The address for the main house is 2050 Crooked Creek Rd, 27520.
Crooked Creek Road is a one-lane private road. Please drive slowly and share the road with other traffic.
When you reach the end of the road, you’ll see a bridge and a “Welcome Tiny House Guests” sign. Drive over the bridge, straight on to Tiny House, and you can park on the gravel parking pad on the left side.
Your key will be in the door.

Guide to Tiny House

Climate Control

There are two remote-controlled HVAC units in Tiny House; one in the bedroom and living room. The living room unit remote is mounted to the left of the front door, and the bedroom unit remote is mounted beside the bedroom door. Tiny House will be heated to 68 degrees when you arrive. You can use the up/down arrow to adjust the temperature.
*If the units seem to not be blowing out warm air, turn them off and back on. Make sure the mode is set to the sunshine icon on the remote ☼. If that doesn’t fix the issue, please send me a text or give me a call.

Wi-Fi

Password: TinyHouseGuest
Wifi may or may not be available due to spotty reception.

Septic

Please don’t flush feminine products or paper products other than toilet paper.

Blinds

Blinds are cordless. Pull down gently or push up slowly to close and open them.

Fireplace

For ambiance only, no heat. Press ⏻ to turn on and off. The 🔥 will adjust the flame level. The ⏲ icon will allow you to set a shut-off time.

FirePit

A fire pit with 2 Adirondack chairs and an Adirondack loveseat glider is available for guest use. The lighter is located in the utensil crock.
There are 2-hour starter logs located in the cabinet below the utensil crock. There are also some compressed sawdust bricks that will burn for a while once the fire is going.
Marshmallow roasting skewers are in the cupboard over the refrigerator.
Please keep any music and merry-making to a reasonable volume; I have a neighbor with small sleeping children nearby.

Trash

Extra trash bags are located in the bottom of the trash bins. Full trash bags may be placed in the large bin in the back of Tiny House.

Kitchen

I tried to be thorough for my chefs, so here are ALL the details.

Cooling things down

There is a small-ish refrigerator/freezer unit for your use. A couple of bottles of water are provided. There is a tray of ice cubes in the freezer.
Please don’t overfill the fridge with large boxes of leftovers. A pizza box has been known to cause everything to freeze over. There are paper plates and saran wrap above the fridge if you need to store pizza slices.

Heating things up

There is a full-sized electric oven with four electric burners. There is also a full-sized microwave and a toaster oven.

Coffee

There is a keurig machine with a few k-cups, cream, and sugar. There is also a drip coffee maker and filters (no grounds provided) in the cabinet under the utensil crock.

Trails

There is a ~¾ mile walking trail on the property. The suggested path is marked with signs. There is also a hilly pasture-side trail and a partially finished trail over a bridge and across the creek, and you are welcome to explore.
Please take care if the ground is damp; some low elevation parts of the trail may be muddy or slippery. Please stay on the trail to minimize risk of unwanted sinkhole, tick, and snake encounters.
There is a pair of beehives located about 50 feet off the trail in a clearing by the old barn. Ignore all you’ve heard about the joys of communing with the gentle bee; please don’t approach the hives. You are at a safe distance as long as you remain behind the “caution do not approach the beehive” signs.

About the Property

My husband and I bought the 10 acre farm in 2014.
Currently, the farm is home to 4 horses, 12 chickens, 2 dogs, 2 rabbits, 2 guinea pigs, 2 box turtles, and 2 boa constrictors (my husband’s little office pets).
The adjacent 5 acres on which Tiny House resides were purchased in 2022. Tiny House was purchased in fall of 2023, and we began offering Tiny House for rent in fall of 2024.
Most of the trails are hand-cut by my husband and I, and maintaining them is a labor of love. I try to add to them a little bit every year, and I’m just a few years away from covering the entire property.
